Sunday Lunch

I actually cooked something for myself this weekend. I'm running a half-marathon in a few weeks so I'm trying to really focus my diet for it. I've been training a lot and dieting a little bit over the past 4 months or so, but I'm getting close and it's time to turn it up a few notches. I decided to make a nice salad and grilled veggies for lunch yesterday. It was easy and very delicious. I'd like to give a special thanks to: Balsamic vinegar, salt, pepper, and olive oil. Oh and Mel's special Canadian Season Salt.

Tomato and Onion Salad

Grilled Zucchini and Yellow Squash (I've already eaten half)

Stuffed Mushrooms from Cheesecake Factory

This little appetizer is definitely one of my favorites.
Stuffed Mushrooms: Cheese, Garlic, Herbs, Wine Sauce and Pancetta Bread Crumbs.

Fast. Easy. Delicious. Pei Wei.
(Apologies for the couple of bites already taken from this plate. I always remember to take a picture halfway into the meal)

P712 Adventure

After blogging about P712 yesterday I thought it would be a good idea to maybe go and enjoy it with Mel last night. We had a lot of leftovers, but it was worth it to try some of the new items on their seasonal menu. Mel loved the ciabatta toast and I loved the pork belly. We also found out that their sweet utensils and glass bottles (with the stopper at the top that they use to serve water) can be found at IKEA. We will be purchasing them tomorrow. :)

Braised pork belly, balsamic, brussels sprouts

Ciabatta toasts, cannellini beans, braised greens, parmesan

Tomato sauce, hand-pulled mozzarella, basil, slab bacon

Blogspot Font

Just a quick note: I'm a little frustrated with the random glitches on blogspot. Sometimes my font sizes get goofy after I publish a post. I apologize, I promise I try to keep them uniform. :)

Pizzeria 712

I love it when someone introduces you to a new place to eat and immediately you think of all of the friends you want to bring there. I fell in love when I walked through these doors a year and a half ago. Thank you Tim Fellow. (Footnote: I fell in love with the food inside these doors, not Tim Fellow. My adoration for Tim began far before P712)

The Margarita Pizza (I usually get this one with slab bacon)

The menu at P712 is simple and consists of fresh, local ingredients, which can be a bit of a frustration when the seasonal dishes you love are out of season. Case in point: their brussels sprouts and slab bacon appetizer. A few months ago this delicious appetizer was taken off of the menu, not to return until mid-summer sometime. I was sad, but then I got over it and tried something else. :)

The one thing that I am astounded at is the location. They seem to get great business regardless of being a little hard to find. That just goes to show that the best advertising you can do as a restaurant is cook great food and let your customers do the rest. P712 seems to have done that and succeeded.
