P712: I'm obsessed.

Last night Mel and I went to Pizzeria 712.  I just can't get enough of this place.  Fresh, high-quality ingredients, with simple preparation is the way to go.  I read this week that the chefs that started P712 and Communal (the sister restaurant on University Ave.) started up at the Tree Room in Sundance.  One was the Ex. Chef and the other the Ex. Pastry Chef.  Well, they made a great move if you ask me.

We each got an appetizer to share and a pizza.  It was a culinary delight.  The Roasted Corn Salad was probably the best thing I've ever had.  Seriously, punch you in the face good.  Something about fresh roasted corn just brings joy to my heart.  And the Ciabatta Toasts (which were basically bruschetta) were equally as delicious.

The thing I love about P712 is their appetizers are always changing according to the seasons, so every time you go you find something new and fun.  And it's always delicious.  I'm so excited for Fall because that means Roasted Brussels Sprouts is back on the menu!  Also, try their Braised Short Rib over a Polenta Cake.  If you haven't been yet, go!

Best Burger in Utah

When I was a kid living in Nevada it was a treat to come out to Salt Lake City.  It's only a 4-hour drive, so we would do it often.  One place that we would always eat is Crown Burger.  I lOVE this burger.  Flame-broiled, fry sauced, deliciousness.
Now, some will try to tell you that Burger Supreme, Apollo Burger, JCW, etc. are the same burger...THEY ARE NOT THE SAME BURGER!  Crown Burger is better.
What's your favorite burger?  Comment below!!

Peach Heaven!

Kylee and her Peach Heaven

I've been fortunate enough to participate in a tradition that has been going on for years, involving good friends and a little dessert we like to call "Peach Heaven."
About 3 years ago my friend Kylee made this dessert for me and my roommates and I have been in love with it ever since.

It's actually really simple to make.  Here's what you'll need:

Peach Heaven Recipe
10 cups of fresh peaches, skinned and sliced (We always wait for the good road stand peaches in the early Fall)
1 pt. homemade whipping cream
1 box Vanilla Wafers
1 egg
1 stick of butter
1/2 cup powdered sugar

1st layer (bottom)- smash wafers on the bottom of a 9x13 pan.
2nd layer- powdered sugar, egg, butter ("cream" or mix them)
3rd layer- sliced peaches
4th layer- whipped cream
5th layer (top)- crushed vanilla wafers
Chill over night before serving.

I can honestly say that this is my favorite desert on this earth.  I've eaten an entire pan by myself before.  And it's one of those things where you don't realize how much you're eating because it's so light and delicious.  So be careful!
